Recent Acquisitions
In 2024, GIN, through the acquisition of shares in Marine Consulting Project S.r.l., a company specialized in the implementation of new pipeline projects and plant maintenance, has extended its presence in the naval installation sector. Furthermore, with the creation of the new subsidiary GIN Maritime Operations, the Group has acquired the Arcalupa submersible barge; an innovative asset that, 127.2 meters in length, 31.5 meters in width and 9,500 tons of net capacity, which is able to operate both as a means of transport and as a platform for the launching and hauling of naval vessels and offshore floating megastructures.
New Projects: Technological Innovation and Sustainability
One of the most important projects of 2024 concerns the collaboration of T. Mariotti with the Aman brand for the construction of the Aman at Sea megayacht, the result of a joint venture with Cruise Saudi. The project involves the construction of an ultra-luxury ship 183 meters long, equipped with exclusive suites and powered by an innovative dual-fuel technology, using diesel and methanol. The start of construction was marked by the traditional steel cutting in March 2024, followed by the keel laying ceremony in July.
In September 2024, T. Mariotti reached another important milestone with the launch of SDO-SuRS, the new dual-use unit for the Italian Navy used for rescuing damaged submarines and special underwater operations. Thus, confirming the ability of the GIN Group companies to manage increasingly complex and technologically advanced constructions. San Giorgio del Porto has also reinforced its presence in the new building sector with the construction of an LNG bunker vessel powered by both diesel and natural gas and a Hybrid chemical tanker with batteries, also powered by the same dual-fuel technology (methanol and diesel).
These projects are part of a broader sustainable growth strategy, demonstrating GIN’s ongoing commitment to adopting technologically advanced and green solutions to reduce emissions in the naval sector.
Repair and Refitting Projects
In addition to construction projects, GIN is one of the leaders in the repair and refit sector thanks to the consolidated experience of the San Giorgio del Porto and Chantier Naval de Marseille shipyards.
During 2024, the two shipyards, have completed highly significant projects. From the refitting of Carnival Legend in Marseille, which involved hull work and the updating of various technical systems on the ship, the dry docking of the pipelaying vessel Saipem Constellation and to the offshore regasification terminal FSRU Toscana; which has undergone substantial interventions to ensure its operational continuity in Livorno.
