The Maiden Call of Yacht Servant by DYT – Yacht Transport, the World’s Largest Submersible Ship

We have long awaited this Lady of the seas!
Yacht Servant, the world’s largest submersible yacht transport ship, arrived at dawn on October 2nd at the IMT Terminal in Genoa for its inaugural call in Italy. It is the new flagship of the Dutch shipowner DYT Yacht Transport of the Spliethoff Group, launched at the beginning of 2022, which will perform a regular line service connecting the Mediterranean with the Caribbean.

The Maiden Call ceremony, held on October 4th aboard the Servant, was attended by Luigi Negri, President, Aldo Negri, CEO, and Ignazio Messina, CEO of Ignazio Messina & C., as well as Laura Tempest, General Manager of DYT, and all local administrations: Giovanni Toti, President of the Region, Paolo Emilio Signorini, President of AdSP, and Francesco Maresca, Port Councilor of the City of Genoa.

With an overall length of 213.7 meters, a width of 46 meters, and a draft of 4.6 meters, Yacht Servant offers double the capacity compared to previous models of these ships and is 32% more fuel-efficient. Its deck space of 6,380 square meters is 30% larger than the Yacht Express, its smaller sister, facilitating the transport of more ships per crossing, including deep-draft sailing yachts.

As a home to important marinas, capable of accommodating and providing extensive services to maxi-yachts, Genoa has always been the Mediterranean reference stop for DYT, assisted locally by the maritime agency Multimarine Services, composed of Simone Carlini, Giulia Di Levrano, and Jacopo Parisi, who deserve special recognition for their professionalism and dedication in assisting the shipowner that made this stop possible.

Always a client of the only public quay in the Port of Genoa, DYT sought another berth capable of accommodating its submersible ships after the recent demolition of the Pra’ two brush. The agreement was found with the IMT Terminal of the Messina group, after the positive outcome of the maneuver simulations required for safety reasons for all those ships that must cross the Sampierdarena channel, defined as “out of gauge” by a recent ordinance of the Port Authority of Genoa (in this case wider than 40 meters).
